For 2010, tuition is $127 per credit hour. So if you decide to take 15 credits, you can expect to pay about $1905 per semester. And unlike other schools, it really doesn’t matter which state you hail from. This low cost college offers the same tuition for both in-state and out-of-state students. The Valdez campus even offers housing.
The University of Alaska Anchorage is, of course, located in Anchorage, Alaska. It is the largest fully accredited university in the entire state and surrounded by everything a nature lover could want, from lakes and wildlife to a huge trail system. The university offers associate’s, bachelor’s, and graduate degrees as well as a full range of programs that end in career diplomas or certificates. Undergraduate tuition for 2010 was just $147 per credit, which is actually cheaper than some community colleges. Non-resident tuition is much more expensive, coming in at $500 per credit hour.
Fairbanks, Alaska is home to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and boasts a mixture of students who are residents of Alaska as well as many who come from other states and foreign countries. Most of the students at this school are undergraduates, and many are fresh out of high school and pursuing degrees. However, the school also has a healthy population of non-traditional students, such as those who are working full time while also pursuing higher education.
